To mark Remembrance Sunday, our Chairman, Carol Grant laid a wreath on behalf of the Fentham Trust at the war memorial in the village. Many village organisations lay a wreath to remember all those who have served and died for their country in the two World Wars and since then. This year it is particularly poignant as it is the centenary of the funeral of the Unknown Soldier, who was buried on Armistice Day 1920 in Westminster Abbey. It is sad that the village could not congregate for our normal church service and procession down the High Street, but hopefully we can resume these traditions next year.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them
